How to learn organic chemistry?

Organic chemistry, do you really think that it’s tough? Is it? No, not at all dear it’s not.  But if it is tough for you, may be you are going wrong way. Still you didn’t understood chemistry. Are you cramming the concepts of organic chemistry, really? Then you don’t know how to study chemistry. Don’t cram bookish definition. Consider organic chemistry as a long movie, which has no end. You have to understand it because you don’t have any other option. As story has many different characters, same with organic chemistry it also has different characters such as hydrocarbon compounds, saturated compound, and unsaturated compound. What happens if we jump in between of the movie, we don’t understand the movie. It’s like having a eye on useless thing. Similarly with organic chemistry, if you jump in between you won’t understand the concepts.  You will lose it.
Organic chemistry is the most logical section of the chemistry. It’s the scoring section of chemistry. I have some tips on how to learn organic chemistry:
1.      Understand the basic concepts:  understand the basic concepts of chemistry. For eg. How to represent molecules, their electron dot structure. Understand how to represent the bonding between the elements. Learn the basics of 3-D molecular structure.  Molecules take form of 3-D structure. Like carbon bonded to four atoms CH4 is a tetrahedron molecule. It can be represented through tetrahedron structure. CO2 has a linear shape while CO3-2    has trigonal planar. These can be understood on the basis of VESPR or orbital hybridization theory. Learn the basics of electronegativity. Learn how to use functional groups. Understand nomenclature of compounds.
2.      How to study: don’t get frustrated or panic while learning chemistry. Sometime, you would not be able to understand the concept no matter how much you try. So don’t panic, it happens. Just be relaxed. Everything has a solution.  Boost your confidence by spending plenty of time studying and take rest too. Do practice as much as you can. Focus on understanding rather than memorization. Learn how to implement it practically. Invent new ways to learn on it your own.
3.      Consult to your well-wishers: it’s obvious that at a certain point of time you would face difficulty in understanding the concepts. Consult it to your friends or professor. They will help you to understand that. You can also take help from online tutoring sites. Or you can also hire a private tutor (if required).  Do as much as practice you can. Solve chemistry worksheets. Do homework, you can also take homework help online. Many video lectures are available on online tutoring sites. Go and search for it if you don’t understand.
Remember organic chemistry is the main part of chemistry. It’s a scoring part in competitive exams. It’s important to be thorough with this section to do well in exams. All the best.
